AMC has released a batch of new photos fromThe Walking Deadspin-off seriesDaryl Dixon, which stars Norman Reedus reprising his role as the zombie-slaying hero.
The Walking Deadrecently ended its eleven-season reign as one of AMC’s most popular shows, chronicling the adventures of a group of survivors in the zombie apocalypse. Daryl Dixon, one of the show’s best anti-heroes, quickly became a fan favorite. The Daryl Dixon series, with David Zabel serving as showrunner, is only one ofThe Walking Deadspinoffs in development. “Set after the series conclusion ofTWD,the Reedus-led offshoot finds the zombie apocalypse fan favorite transported across the Atlantic to France and a whole new level of a world gone mad,” reads the official synopsis.

Entertainment Weeklyrecently unveiled photos featuring Reedus on the upcoming Daryl Dixon series, looking much as he did asThe Walking Deadcame to a close, where he was last seen riding a motorcycle into the horizon. The spinoff series will detail how Dixon came to be in France. “We know the story will somehow be connected to the mid-credits scene fromThe Walking Dead: World Beyondfinale, in which a scientist in an abandoned French lab was shot after watching videos from Dr. Edwin Jenner (from season 1 of the original series) about tests being done on variant walkers,” says EW.
According to Reedus, this spinoff series will vary from the popular original. “It’s going to bewaydifferent. The story’s way different. There’s a different tone, there’s a different light, there’s a different sound. It’s a whole different vibe,” Reedus said. In addition to Reedus, Daryl Dixon stars Clémence Poésy(The Essex Serpent) andAdam Nagaitis (Chernobyl). Poesy will play Isabelle, a member of a progressive religious group who travels with Daryl across France. Meanwhile, Nagaitis will portray a displaced Brit named Quinn, who has become a powerful black marketeer and the owner of an underground nightclub in post-apocalyptic France.
Daryl Dixon emerged as one of the most popular characters of the original show after debuting as a possible villain inThe Walking Deadseason 1. Reedus' performance has often been praised for his heroism, humour, and gritty survival skills. While exact details have yet to be released on when the Daryl Dixon series will debut, many fans ofThe Walking Deadeagerly await the spin-off, which will no doubt bring more zombie-fighting action and character development for Dixon.
