Not only is Kratos alive and well, but he also has a family, including his wife Faye and son Atreus.

Thus, there is a significant window of events unknown to fans. Moreover, the story failed to recount details betweenGod of War 3and the colloquially namedGod of War 4. As a result, many are curious as to what occurred during this lapse in time. So, here are twelve significant events that occurred during this unwitnessed period in Kratos’s life.

Others, however, have delved into the franchise’s expansive - and often confusing - collection of lore. Specifically, what transpired between the events of God of War 3 and God of War (2018). There is little referencing this unseen period in Kratos’sw story, thus resulting in much uncertainty. So, while every bout cannot be accounted for, what is known should be displayed blatantly. Listed below are numerous events that took place between God of War 3 and God of War (2018) that every fan should know.
12Kratos Starts A New Family
Kratos fell in love before with his first wife, Lysandra, but that was long ago. Since then, Kratos has lost his family and underwent a path of vengeance against the Greek Gods and all who aided them. This Kratos seemed incapable of love, yet inGod of War (2018), he has a wife and a son once more
Not only that, but Kratos must have had a courting period as well. This means there was canonically a time where Kratos had been involved in a love story where he and Faye got together before getting married. Who’s up for a Kratos romantic comedy movie?
11Astral Athena Roams Free
IfGod of War (2018)closely followed its predecessor, Athena would likely be its main antagonist. As it happened, Athena appeared in the sequel, where she manifested as a hallucination to Kratos. This illusion of sorts may have led many to overlook Athena and her plans for Greece and its people.

With Kratos dead and the power of Hope freed, an ascended Athena was free to do whatever she pleased. While it is unknown what power she holds, Athena could have likely set in motion previously constructed plans. Thus, making her a potential antagonist or character to be explored in future installments.
10The Aftermath Of Kratos’s Death
Even though Athena may have carried out her plans, the people of Greece utilized the power of Hope in some capacity. AsGod of War 3’sdevelopers revealed, Kratos’s final act against the Greek Gods converted Greece to a godless land, one free of divine intervention.
Now humanity is free from the subjugation and manipulation of the gods. The people of the world would have used the power of Hope burning within them to rally and recoup. Therefore, achieving what Kratospresumably died forand preventing Athena from ruling - or so it seems.
9The Remaining Titans Roam Free
We cannot say for certain what happened to the almighty Titans, but the remaining few were left lost and without a purpose. You may recall Kratos had brought these Titans from the Titanomachy in the past, and not all of them had perished.

Thus, the Greek world still has a few Titans roaming about. With the Greek Gods and their previous leaders slain, the remainder has much leeway in what they may do. In truth, the surviving Titans may have aided the Greek people in rebuilding or simply gone off on their path.
8Kratos Journeys To The Norse World
Most fans ponder the fact that Kratos reached the Norse world, but no one considers the great extent of this journey. While Kratos is powerful, the journey was likely treacherous and unforgiving. Moreover, he was in poor condition when last seen inGod of War 3.
Thus, Kratos must have hauled himself up, reached some kind of sanctuary, stitched his wound, and made the journey to the ends of the seas to reach the new world. We do not even mind if the developers decide to make an entire game focusing on Kratos’ adventures afterGod of War 3before he met Faye.
7Kratos Moves On
The ending ofGod of War 3showed Kratos tapping into his inner psyche to battle Zeus, where he confronted his demons and learned to forgive himself for his past sins. This involved saying goodbye to the images of the wife and daughter he had killed, although the ending scene had Kratos notes Pandora’s similarity to his daughter; he was not completely over his family.

Skip toGod of War (2018), and Kratos does not even mention to Atreus that he had a sister. Therefore, proving that Kratos had time to reflect and move on before the game’s events, where he learned to let go of his previous family’s memories and create new ones with Faye and Atreus.
6The Blade Of Olympus Is Abandoned
Every fan of theGod of Warfranchise lost their mind at the sight of the Blades of Chaos, Kratos’s signature weapon he retrieved from the Greek world before arriving in Midgard. Therefore, overshadowing other Greek artifacts, and likely causing fans to forget about the renowned Blade of Olympus.
After the events ofGod of War 3, Kratos abandoned the Greek world’s most devastating weapon - likely to forget his horrific past. If Kratos kept the Blade of Olympus, the events ofGod of War (2018)would likely be much more manageable. However, Kratos made his decision, one that led to much personal growth and development.
5The Prophecy Is Set In Motion
Many gamers who playedGod of War (2018)complained about the lack of context over what transpired when Atreus and Kratos arrived at Jotunheim. The message understood by most mainly was that Kratos was fated to die. However, few realize Faye’s involvement in this grim and unresolved prophecy.

As was evident, it seems that Faye was destined to marry Kratos before their meeting. Accordingto the prophecyof the Frost Giants, Loki, aka Atreus, is meant to be the one to take down the Norse Gods, meaning Faye was aware that Kratos would visit the Norse world. Therefore, Faye may have orchestrated the events leading to this prophecy’s conclusion, whether of her own volition or otherwise.
4Kratos Masters His Rage
While Atreus believes his father spent much time hunting, Kratos was achieving something far greater. In truth, Kratos head out to the forest for weeks at a time to master his unbridled fury rage. Thus, revealing why the Kratos inGod of War (2018)is far less reckless and much more thoughtful.
Kratos learned that his anger had been his undoing in Greece. Therefore, he would learn how to fend off enemies without succumbing to a rage-fueled slaughter. Kratos’s training took place largely before Faye’s death. To conceal Kratos’s godhood, Faye lied to Atreus about his father’s whereabouts.
3Atreus’s Relationship With Kratos Falters
Atreus spent years attempting to form a meaningful bond with Kratos, yet to no avail. Only a few mentions of their strained relationship are revealed through their conversation. However, it is made abundantly clear that Atreus is somewhat contemptuous with Kratos and his absence.

This feeling of disconnection, in conjunction with Faye’s absence, fuels much of Atreus’s anger and recklessness. Knowing what the Frost Giant prophecy entails, Atreus’s rage could be his undoing that leads him towards a path similar to Kratos back in Greece.
