In an interview withCollider, Holland gave an update about his future in MCU asSpider-Man. The 27-year-old actor revealed that he is “actively engaging in conversations” about thepotential look ofSpider-Man 4. However, he is more concerned about giving the character justice because he is “very protective” of it. He acknowledged how each movie was better and more successful than the previous one and wished to maintain the momentum to keep the legacy.

I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.

TheUnchartedactor clarified that if they could work on his condition, he would return andput on Spider-Man’s spidersuit. He said he owed everything to the titular character. Holland said he loved his role and the people he worked with in the film, so he would reprise his role if they found the right story.

If we can figure that out, I would be a fool not to put the suit back on again because I owe everything to Spider-Man. I love the character and the people I get to work with. So, I would love to tell another story, but I’ll only tell it if we can find the right one.

Holland’s statement wasn’t surprising. While he might not bethe best Spider-Man actorfor every MCU fan, he made the character popular with younger fans, so it was understandable that he was protective of his legacy as Peter Parker, a.k.aSpider-Man. Also, following the success ofNo Way Home, fans have wondered if he will return to play the fan-favorite character again. Holland has been consistent in that he is open to playing Peter again if the script will give justice to the character. In a previous interview, he said he was open to reprising his role so long as the next movie would elevate the story and make the franchise better.

Holland initially signed for aSpider-Mantrilogy, soSpider-Man 4is already an extension of his original contract to portray the superhero. He admitted that he would be lucky if he could return for another film to play the titular character again. However, his fate as Spidey remains unclear, as the actor has a specific condition that needs to be met. It’s been two years since Holland graced the big screen as Spider-Man, and without a production schedule in sight,Spider-Man 4may take longerthan fans want.
