Square Enix’s tactical turn-based RPGTriangle Strategyhas players controlling their units in a gameplay style that’s reminiscent of theFire Emblemseries.Triangle Strategyis story-heavy and includes branching storylines based on the player’s decision. No matter which path is chosen, one thing remains consistent: making sure all units have enough XP and are at a high enough level to take on the story missions.
The level cap forTriangle Strategyis 50, and it takes 100XP to reach a new level. Depending on the level of the unit and its enemies, a unit’s XP gain will vary. Under-leveled can gain as much as 75XP, same-leveled units about 15XP, and over-leveled units receive the least amount at 5XP. Knowing this, players will be able to determine which character on their team needs to play catch up, and those that can take a backseat. While level grinding is tedious,Triangle Strategyhas a feature calledMental Mock Battles, which are ideal for XP farming.

All About Mental Mock Battles
Mental Mock Battles can be initiated by going tothe Tavern in the Encampment. The first Mock Battle (Basic Training) will be unlocked in chapter 3 and takes place in Castle Wolffort Hall.
To unlock more Mental Mock Battles, players will need to advance through the story. Each of these Mock Battles offers rewards upon successful completion, but they’re also ideal places to grind XP and materials.
Be sure to check-in at the Tavern after each story mission to see what’s available. On a first playthrough, players will have about 20 Mental Mock Battles by the end of the game.On a NG+ file, players will be able to partake in even tougher Mock Battles.
Mental Mock Battle Tips
Use the Mental Mock Battles to try out each units' skills. In order for everyone to get XP,they will have to Attack oruse aTriangle StrategySkill and/or Item. Having a character simply move from one square to another will not generate any XP. If using Items, use a low-cost Item such as an HP Recovery Pellet.
While players will get rewards for completing Mental Mock Battles, the quality of these rewards will vary depending on the battle performance. If players are simply using Mental Mock Battles for XP grinding, then they don’t have to worry about losing since the XP is transferred regardless of a win or loss.
When selecting Mental Mock Battles, select aRecommended Levelthat’shigher than the units. As mentioned, under-level units will gainmoreXP if they’re going up against stronger opponents. With Mental Mock Battles lacking permadeath, players won’t have to stress over losing units.
Players can also purchase theJade Thumb Ringaccessory from the Provisioner or Itinerant Merchants in the Encampment. This is a costlyTriangle StrategyEquipment Itemat 10,000 coins and only becomes purchasable later in the game.
The Jade Thumb Ring will double a unit’s XP gain, so it may be worth buying if players have enough coins.
