AWorld of Warcraftplayer recently defeated a powerfulShadowlandsraid boss without any other party members. After over five hours of fighting, the world’s most patientWorld of Warcraftplayer defeated Rygelon in the Sepulcher of the First Ones all on his own.
The impressive feat was accomplished by aWorld of Warcraftplayer by the name of Venn. According to him, the encounter took months of preparation and more than 90 wipes across two different classes. The battle was finally won in no small part due to thenew Talent Trees available in theDragonflightPre-Patch.

Venn defeated Rygelon on the Fated Normal mode in a battle that would normally be alongside at least nine other players. Thepenultimate boss of the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid, Rygelon has several one-shot and instant-wipe mechanics. While he originally tried it on a Blood Death Knight, Venn switched to Brewmaster Monk, as it had powerful damage shields and self-healing outside of melee range. He broke down the most difficult parts of the encounter in a 10-minute video alongside the sped-up footage of the entire fight.
The highlights of Venn’ssoloWorld of Warcraftraid boss battlewere his techniques for surviving insta-kill mechanics and enrages. He was able to stack absorbing shields to survive the tank swap mechanic, Corrupted Strikes, and had to kite the boss away from the Collapsing Quasar adds, which lead to an instant kill if they reach the boss before being destroyed. Most impressively, Venn was able to survive the soft enrage Massive Bang attack. However, doing so triggers a state where Venn could only damage the boss with auto attacks for the rest of the fight. While extending the clear time exponentially, it allowed him to focus on healing himself through several hours of Rygelon spamming the high-damaging Radiant Plasma attack.
Venn’s fellowWorld of Warcraftplayers couldn’t help but salute his perseverance. A five-hour battle easily secures solo Rygelon as one of thelongest boss fights in the history of gaming, and represents a feat few players would even consider trying, let alone succeeding.
ThenewWorld of WarcraftTalent Treeswhich let Venn survive the fight are currently live in theDragonflightPre-Patch. The next phase of the Pre-Patch goes live on November 15, with the expansion launching two weeks after. With the Vault of the Incarnates raid opening a couple of weeks after that, players who like to challenge themselves like Venn will be able to start making plans to solo Razageth and her minions in the near future.
