Summary

World of Warcraftis adding several new background colors players can choose between for NPC dialogue and quest boxes. This new accessibility option will make questing inWorld of Warcraftmuch easier on the eyes.

Since the launch ofDragonflight,World of Warcrafthas been introducing several new features to make the game easier to play. The user interface has received massive overhauls, including several quality-of-life and accessibility options.

Now,World of Warcrafthas added another such option many players may not have realized they wanted until now. InWorld of WarcraftPatch 10.2, Guardians of the Dream, players will be able to customize the color of the text box background displayed when talking to NPCs. In addition to the default quest pane, players can choose between three different light options and a dark one. The backgrounds are currently available on the Patch 10.2 Public Test Realm, butWoWcontent creator LeystTV made a short video showing off the different options and how they work.

These four options lack the embellishments and background designs of the default, making them easier to read for some players. While there are plenty ofadd-ons forWorld of Warcraftthat can do similar things, or replace the window with different displays entirely, having the option native in the MMO is always a good thing.

Fans ofWorld of Warcraftare thrilled about this new accessibility option. Several players confirmed that, even though their eyesight is fine, they plan on using the dark mode option, as the sudden bright parchment color of the default quest pane can be jarring, especially since most of the UI windows were made darker inDragonflight. Because it is an option players can freely ignore, most agree this is an absolute win.

There are plenty of other gameplay features coming in Guardians of the Dream on November 7.World of Warcraftis adding a whole new zone, raid, and Renown faction in the update, as well as tons of items to collect and activities to complete. While players can’t be sure ifWorld of Warcraftis planning another major update forDragonflightyet, there will definitely be more content coming in the form of smaller patches.

Either way, BlizzCon takes place on November 3 and 4, andWorld of Warcrafthas all but confirmed its plans to revealits next expansion pack there. Fans won’t have to wait long to see what Blizzard has in store for them next.
